I just returned from a fabulous 2 week trip through Vietnam. This year, for the first time, we made a stopover in Dalat, a lake town in the central highlands area of the country. I had two marked highlight in Dalat. The first was the wonderful 5-mile walking path that goes around the lake passing fishing holes, delicious food stands, cheesy “love-themed” parks, and horses grazing near the lake. Living in Mumbai, walking paths, grass and quiet surroundings are an anomaly. My second highlight was the incredible Sofitel Dalat Palace Hotel we stayed in for 2 nights. The long, green, grassy front lawn begged to be used in the afternoons to delve into a great book. The cozy library and dark, intimate wine parlor evoked images of the French past that the hotel used to claim. The evening pianist played wonderful memory-provoking pieces that complimented the candlelit dining room where dinner was served. Last, but certainly not least, the lilies ALL over the hotel were just breathtaking. The incredible aroma and extravagant displays just took my breath away. I want to share a few photos with you below of this incredible place in the humble center of Vietnam.
